The School of Parents

Artemisa, Cuba - The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and the Directorate of Vocational Technical Education held ''The School of Parents'' at the José Antonio Echevarría Polytechnic Institute in San Antonio de los Baños.
The center's director, Carmen Lidia Arrieta, read the document on academic fraud issued by the Minister of Education Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella. Belkis Rodríguez, FMC general secretary in San Antonio de los Baños, commented on the objective of the video “Communication in the family” discussed in the classrooms.
In the audiovisual, the psychologist Niurka Ávila referred to interpersonal relationships, the family as the infant's first school and the distractors very common in these times, among other topics. The specialist suggested interacting with the group of friends of the teenager. The parents commented on the importance of communication and being aware of the actions of young people, an essential aspect to avoid major problems because they have a unique personality, special interests, likes and dislikes.
The feelings and behavior of young people is moving towards independence. That is why many parents cannot communicate with their children or cannot decode what they express. The first thing to be understood is that young people do not communicate but express themselves.
It is important to give their space to young people, but parents should always be available to listen to them and share their experiences and feelings. If we understand their language, their expressions, we can help them. ''The School of Parents'' is a useful help for the journey of silence and distrust.
