Santiago, Chile -  About 3,712 detainees and 1,323 injured are the result of Chile's National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) about the rallies carried out throughout Chile in recent days.

These figures were compiled by NHRI directly from observations in the rallies themselves, police stations and health centers.

Of people injured in those rallies and those sent to hospitals, about 343 were shot with pellets from police and 26 were injured with rubber pellets, including an NHRI observer who on Tuesday suffered seven bullet wounds on his body.

INDH president Sergio Micco denounced this event. He warned that pellet shots was carried out at close range by the police amid a peaceful demonstration in Santiago's Alameda Avenue.

The NHRI report states that among more than 3,000 detainees, according to figures collected until Tuesday at 21:30 local time, about 404 are children, and 138 lawsuits were filed, 18 more than the previous report, mainly for torture and sexual violence committed by police officers.

Chile has been experiencing an unprecedented social outbreak for 11 days because of the boredom by most of the population due to the worsening of the neo-liberal model that has contributed to sharpening the conditions that make this country one of the most unequal ones on the planet.
