France assures Cuba's forum is key to fighting US blockade

Paris - The Anti-Imperialist Meeting of Solidarity, for Democracy and Against Neoliberalism, which will open in Havana tomorrow, represents the right space to strengthen actions to counter US blockade against Cuba, assured French activist Charly Bouhana on Wednesday.
Speaking to Prensa Latina a few hours before the beginning of the forum planned until Sunday, the president of the association 'Cuba Si France' pointed out that the participation of politicians, trade unionists and solidarity groups must contribute to the coordination of global actions in different fields, in response to the tightening of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade.
We are really worried about the escalation in hostile measures against Cuba, but the answer must be to raise our voices louder, to make us listen to all possible levels, hence the importance of the meeting, he insisted.
For Bouhana, a fundamental element is to appeal to people's conscience, and wake them up in the face of the criminal nature of the blockade and its devastating impact on Cuban society.
'Cuba Si France' association sent representatives to the Havana meeting, in which we will share the experience of almost 30 years of solidarity and disclosure of Cuba's reality, as in the case of the five anti-terrorists, he stressed.
The association was very active in the freedom claim of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez, arrested and sentenced to long sentences in the United States after fulfilling the mission of avoiding violent incidents against their country, which had been arranged, sponsored and executed from south Florida.
Around thirty French intellectuals, parliamentarians, trade unionists and activists traveled to Havana to participate in the meeting.
