Russian Parliament drafts resolution against US blockade against Cuba

Moscow - The State Duma (Russian lower house) is drafting a resolution to demand the end of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, parliamentary sources said on Saturday.
The draft, which was already presented by the International Relations Committee for final debate and be put to a vote, contains a call to the UN to pressure Washington in order to halt its hostility toward neighboring island.
The Duma addresses the UN General Assembly and the international community to pressure the United States with the purpose of ending that restrictive policy, which in less than a year caused losses to Cuba in excess of four billion dollars.
The draft recalls that the vast majority of United Nations members have repeatedly supported year after year the resolution presented by Cuba on the need to end the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States against the island.
However, Washington ignores the international demand and further strengthens the economic yoke on the Cuban economy.
Last October, the White House hardened the restrictions on export and re-export of aviation technology and telecommunication equipment to Cuba, and also suspended flights operated by US airlines to Cuban provinces, the document recalls.
