Havana - Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reiterated on Tuesday his country's condemnation of the coup in Bolivia and ratified the island's solidarity with former president Evo Morales, now exiled in Mexico.

Rodriguez, in a message on Twitter, repudiated the coup led by extreme right groups with the support of the United States.

He also rejected the violence and repression currently experienced by the people of the South American nation.

He described the coup as an attack on the peace, stability and legality of the Andean country and Latin America.

'Brother Evo Morales Ayma has the solidarity of Cuba,' the head of Cuban diplomacy tweeted.

Yesterday, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel also called for preserving the physical integrity of the indigenous leader, subject to death threats.

Evo Morales arrived today in Mexico as a political exile, after having to take an alternate flight route over Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, due to the refusals of Peru and Ecuador for him to fly over their airspace.

Like Cuba, many countries have rejected the attack on Bolivian democracy, which, according to experts, is yet another United States-backed conspiracy to destroy governments not in line with its interests.

In a recent address, US President Donald Trump celebrated the coup in Bolivia and called it a 'significant moment for democracy in the Western Hemisphere.'
