Another national strike day begins in Colombia

Bogota - Colombia's Strike Committee called for this Wednesday a new day of mobilization throughout the country against the government, in rejection of violence and for peace.
'We call a strike on November 27 in a new national day. Against Ivan Duque's pack and as a tribute to Dilan Cruz's death. The strike goes on!,' a young leader protester told Prensa Latina.
In this regard, she pointed out that in this Wednesday's action the Committee will demand the dissolution of ESMAD, the purification of the police and the collapse of the tax reform boosted by the government, because the Committee considers that such reform violates Colombians' interests.
The Committee also agreed to maintain citizen mobilization and support protest actions in a peaceful manner and to hold union, communal, popular and neighborhood assemblies this weekend throughout the country, so that social mobilization can be coordinated.
In the list of requests that the Unemployment Committee delivered to the Presidency of the Republic, it requested to be addressed with the citizen movement Let's Defend Peace the process of compliance and implementation of the Peace Agreement signed in 2016 between the State and the former FARC-EP guerrilla.
The above issues will be discussed by the Government and the Strike Committee exclusively through the mechanisms agreed between them, regardless of those established by the Executive for which it has called a great national dialogue.
This last request makes clear reference to what Duque called national talk, a process that began on November 24 with mayors and governors and will last until March 15.
