Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel chaired an exchange with Cuban trade union leaders this Wednesday to discuss the Economy Plan for 2020.
Diaz-Canel said at the meeting that "there is no place in Cuba where the trade union movement does not have a voice, we must join the struggle with the administrations to fulfill the plans," the Cuban Presidency published on Twitter.
In this sense, the Cuban leader explained that the most important task today is to fulfill this Plan in the midst of the tightening of the blockade, and he stressed the relevance of this discussion process with the workers, which must involve, summon and motivate every Cuban.
For his part, the Minister of Economy, Alejandro Gil, began the debate with an explanation of some key issues to be discussed with the workers, such as compliance with the Plan, import substitution and saving material resources to increase production and the need for precise investments for the national economy.
At the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Cuban Workers Federation (CTC by its Spanish acronym), Meisi Bolaños, Minister of Finance and Prices, called for increased income, trade growth and more efficient and rational spending to avoid unnecessary economic losses.
The exchange was also led by Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, Secretary General of the CTC, and Milagros de la Caridad Perez, a member of the national secretariat, who stressed the importance of preparing the meetings, leading the administrative management, the decision-making bodies, and the participation of the workers in the debates.
