Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel attended the inauguration of the 2nd CUBA SABE Culinary Workshop at the Grand Iberostar Packard Hotel, in Havana.
The opening of this event began with the Master Conference on Food Sovereignty in the 21st Century, given by Brazilian theologian Frei Betto, and was also attended by Manuel Marrero Cruz, Cuban PM, and other officials and personalities.
Understanding, fostering and assuming the values of Cuban cuisine as history, tradition and modernity is the goal of the forum, hosted by the Cultural Tourism Agency Paradiso, together with the National Council of Cultural Heritage, the Cuban Culinary Federation and the associations of Bartenders and Sommeliers.
The main goal of the meeting is to appreciate Cuban cuisine as a heritage and contribute to the creation of a dossier that confirms this criterion, MSc. Lis Cuesta Peraza, manager of Academic Services Paradiso and president of the organizing committee stressed.
Representatives from Cuba, Mexico, Italy, the United States and Spain, among other countries, are attending the event, which includes workshops, lectures, tours, tastings and concerts.
