The president of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, expressed that it is very encouraging to see the recovery of the facilities of the El Bleo pig Business Unit (UEB by its Spanish acronym) in Las Tunas, eastern Cuba. which has been taking actions to continue growing and increasing the production of pork.
He began his ministerial visit to the province in this entity, where he remarked the progress of the facility which has achieved important results during the last five years, after being inactive for 23 years.
This is an example of how work should be done, said the president in recognizing the decision not to lose such facilities, but to keep them to continue when conditions exist.
Along with the leading political and government authorities of the province and the minister of agriculture Gustavo Rodriguez Rollero, Diaz-Canel learned that the UEB program is designed to have a total of 44 warehouses, of which 22 will be used for fattening and the same number for reproduction, development and growth.
There are currently 6,673 animals in the plant in different categories, and by the end of this year or in early 2021, there should be 9,000 heads, as well as areas for planting cassava, with the aim of providing food for the pigs.
Rodriguez Rollero reported that since in Las Tunas there is infrastructure for the manufacture of feed, a plant will be built to produce 120,000 tons per year.
