Artemisa, Cuba - Increase the range of exportable products and services, expedite procedures for commercialization and the necessary link with Mariel Special Development Zone are the main objectives of the Department of Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation of the Provincial Administration Council (CAP) during 2020.
In 2019, there were 21 entities in the province that produced for export: goods in 13 of these and the rest through service. Among all they concentrated 38 exportable items.
“The non- compliance in the production of chili pepper, charcoal, avocado, leather, bronze and cement, did not allowed what was planned. That's why we closed 2019 with 80% of the expected incomes , ”said Jorge Luis Oramas Vargas, head of the Department.
“We are very producers, but we lack techniques to sell what we do. It is necessary to search how it is done in the world market, to gain experience. We must comply with the relevant certificates for international agreements, and ask for funding to start our businesses and make them more productive and hard currency collectors, ”said Ricardo Concepción Rodríguez, CAP president.
An increase in the export of honey, tobacco, copper, stainless steel and charcoal is expected in 2020. In addition, the Artemisa Business Group (GEA) analyzes how much 14 companies are able to contribute to the acquisition of CL.
Being close to ZEDM, where there are companies in need of products that are perfectly available in our territory, was the constant proposal of the presidency, as an alternative to achieve a steady and sustained export.
Meanwhile, Gladys Martínez Verdecia, a member of the Central Committee and First Secretary of the Party in the province, urged to use the potential of the University to prepare those responsible for these matters, and draw up export strategies in which each element is conceived in schedules.
In addition, Martinez stressed the importance of following differently the tasks of agriculture and other areas with an export profile, since they are the ones that will contribute the income to make Artemisa a more powerful province.
