Highway linking Damascus and Aleppo opened to civilian traffic

The highway linking the Syrian capital with Aleppo, which was the country's largest city before the war, is officially open to civilian traffic without restrictions, the Syrian Minister of Transport Ali Hamoud said on Saturday. Earlier, the Syrian armed forces confirmed that large areas in Aleppo and Idlib had been liberated from terrorists, including strategic towns such as Anadan and Haritan previously used by militants, thus facilitating the opening of the important highway.

Syrian troops have also liberated wide areas of neighboring Idlib province in northwestern Syria in recent weeks.

From Moscow, Sputnik News reports that Russia, Turkey and Iran are the ceasefire guarantors in the conflict-affected Syria. Moreover, Russia regularly carries out humanitarian operations across the country and helps Damascus in providing safe passage for the return of Syrian refugees.

Syrian News Agency (SANA) reports on Saturday that Army units continue operations against terrorism in the countryside of Idleb and Aleppo. They have destroyed, with precision missile strikes, terrorist groups' headquarters, equipment and vehicles.

SANA adds the military have carried out concentrated rocket strikes on the positions of Turkey-backed terrorist groups in the towns of Juzif , Sfouhen, Kafr Awayd, Kansafra, Ahsem, Binin, al-Futira, al-Bara and Sarjah in Jabal al-Zawiya, in addition to al-Mastumah in Idleb countryside.

The strikes which have been shown on video resulted in the killing of many terrorists, the destruction of their equipment and vehicles and a headquarters for their ringleaders.

There, in the Catskill Mountains, he conceived the second and last book of poems that he would publish months later: Simple Verses.
