Caracas - The Electoral Candidacy Committee to elect the new members of the National Electoral Council (CNE) was installed in Venezuela on Monday, after the unanimous election of its members, Bloque de la Patria leader Francisco Torrealba said.
Torrealba said on Twitter that the Committee will be headed by National Assembly lawmaker Angel Medina, from the opposition Primero Justicia party, and the vice president will be lawmaker Julio Chavez, from Bloque de la Patria in Lara state, while the secretary will be opposition parliamentarian Jose Luis Cartaya.
The Committee will also include ten members of civil society, who will elect, along with the parliamentarians, the new members of the Electoral Power, Torrealba explained.
The Electoral Candidacy Committee is part of the agreements reached between the national Government and Venezuelan opposition sectors at the Dialogue held in September 2019.
