Hanoi - The strict measures activated by Vietnam to prevent the spread of SARS-Cov-2 allowed Vietnam to reach on Tuesday 40 consecutive days without reporting local Covid-19 cases.
As indicated by the commission in charge of containing the pandemic, since April 16 there have been no internal contagions. Of the 326 reported since the entry of the novel coronavirus four months ago, the last 186 afflicted are repatriated from other nations where the epidemiological situation is complicated.
Meanwhile, the country reports no deaths and 272 recoveries from Covid-19, representing 82% of the total of patients. The still 54 active cases evolve favorably, 11 have been negative in the first or second tests for detecting the virus.
Given the outstanding improvement in the situation, the government considers that the pandemic is already fundamentally controlled. Thus, the country can move towards a 'new normality,' implying the observance of certain preventive measures.
A few days ago, to the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc outlined the most general tasks that must be accomplished to revive the economy and society when Covid-19 is fully controlled.
