Greece supports Nobel Peace Prize for Cuban doctors

A Greek initiative to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the Cuban doctors who are fighting against the Covid-19 in the world was presented in this capital.

The event took place on Monday at the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation, organized by Newstar Art Cinema and led by Velissarios Kossivakis, where the Honorary Committee of 100 Greek personalities who support the proposal to grant this recognition to the Henry Reeve Brigade of Cuban specialists was presented.

Greece supports Nobel Peace Prize for Cuban doctorsThis action, which has already gathered more than 30,000 signatures of support, is part of a larger campaign called Cuba sí, Bloqueo No, which is being carried out throughout the country by Greek friends in solidarity with the people of the island.

Numerous personalities spoke at the evening, including Kossivakis, the initiator of the initiative; Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina, Cuban Ambassador to Greece, and Dr. John Milios, Professor Emeritus of Political Economy and History of Economic Thought at the National Technical University of Athens.

Greece supports Nobel Peace Prize for Cuban doctorsIn their speeches, the speakers expressed the Greeks' admiration and respect for the Cuban people and the achievements of their revolutionary process, described the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island as unjust and condemned the campaigns of lies regarding the work of their doctors in the world.

The evening was also attended by Cuban Embassy Counselor in Greece Jose Oriol Marrero Martinez, representatives of various political forces, solidarity associations, intellectuals, artists, journalists, Cuban residents, and friends of the Caribbean island in general.
