Artemisa, Cuba - The Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture Movement in Ariguanabo contributes to the production of food for the population through different subprograms.
According to Yaima Hernández, director of the UEB Granja Urbana Base Business Unit, 150 plots and 2,100 family patios operate in Ariguanabo today, the owners of these areas are individual producers who sell their products through points of sale, guaranteeing local supply, as part of what is offered in the municipality's points of sale is selected.
Today we are working together with the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution to rescue these areas. The Ariguanabo has the potential to plant 4,000 patios, although more than 2,000 already have a stable production rate, especially those for vegetables and fruit.

The Kikirikí Ministry is producing 40 kilograms of banana paste daily to mix with wheat flour in order to save this product. It also distributes this product to bakeries in Bauta and Caimito, which are currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
