Opposition to postponing November elections grows in the U.S.

Washington - Political and press media are adding to the negative to the suggestion made by Donald Trump to delay the elections slated for November 3th, 2020.

The president's suggestion was disclosed at a time when polls show he is at a disadvantage against his rival, Democrat Josep Biden, and there is a marked effect on his chances of reelection due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the economy.

According to the survey summary published at the www.realclearpolitics.com website, Biden is ahead of Trump 49.9 to 41.6 percent of the vote and in the states where the vote intentions are more contested, like Wisconsin, North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania and Arizona, Trump is lagging behind his adversary.

Trump suggested this week in the face of poll numbers and the likelihood of a shameful defeat in November that the country should 'delay elections' due to false fears of electoral fraud.

Most experts and official figures deny Trump's claim that the 'Universal Vote by Mail' will somehow lead to inaccurate or fraudulent results, and there is no evidence to support this claim.

According to the site of the Vox publication, Trump is simply using false fears to justify delaying the November elections, fears that were rejected by his own administration as recently as two years ago.

Regarding the president's plans to stay in power, Nobel Prize winner in economics, Paul Krugman, in his column in The New York Times newspaper noted that 'at this moment Trump is simply a failed president, and everyone, Except for his staunch supporters, he knows it.'

There, in the Catskill Mountains, he conceived the second and last book of poems that he would publish months later: Simple Verses.
