Havana - Cuba reported some 4,435 asymptomatic cases of Covid-19, representing 61.7% of all those diagnosed on the island with the disease, MINSAP informed on Thursday.
Of 40 cases reported with the virus this Thursday, 82.5% are asymptomatic, the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) said.
All new cases are Cubans, with local transmission. Of that figure, 36 were contacts of confirmed cases and the source of infection has not been confirmed in four cases.
The 40 new cases belong to Pinar del Rio (34), Artemisa (1), Havana (1), Sancti Spiritus (2) and Ciego de Avila (2). Until midnight Wednesday, about 956 patients are admitted in hospitals for clinical epidemiological surveillance, 634 are suspects, 1,316 are under surveillance.
Of 551 active cases, 545 patients are clinically stable, four are in a critical health condition and two are seriously ill.
Some 108 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last few hours, so 6,502 cases were recovered from Covid-19.
On Wednesday, Cuban laboratories made 8,999 PCR tests in real-time to detect Covid-19, totaling 883,701 samples so far since the pandemic emerged in March.
