Havana - Cuban health authorities confirmed 38 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total to 7,763 since the emergence of the pandemic in the national territory.
The head of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, Francisco Duran, pointed out that 32 of the 38 patients diagnosed are Cuban and six are foreigners.
In addition, 18 turned out to be contacts of other patients, and this is the group with the highest risk and importance for the search for infections, in the words of the epidemiologist.
By provinces, the 18 autochthonous cases correspond to the western territory of Pinar del Río (16), one to Havana and another one to the province of Ciego de Avila.
The specialist explained that the source of infection for 20 of the patients had been placed abroad, and the number of imported cases reached 51 during the week.
Likewise, he asserted that of the 38 new patients, 20 showed asymptomatic at the time of applying the real-time PCR tests.
On the other hand, Duran emphasized the importance of caring for minors as three underage patients were diagnosed with the disease on Thursday.
