Cuba Council of Ministers reviews economic programs in Matanzas

Havana - The Cuban Council of Ministers, headed by President Miguel Diaz-Canel, on Friday reviewed the main economic programs in the western province of Matanzas during the third government visit to that territory.
As part of his agenda, the Cuban president visited the Jesus Rabi sugar mill, in Calimete municipality, where he analyzed the strategy of the 2020-2021 harvest in that region, one of the main sectors of the domestic economy.
'It is time to reverse the downturn in sugar production with higher industrial and sugarcane yields, with the application of agricultural ecological techniques,' said the head of State, quoted by the Cuban Presidency's official Twitter account.
Another visit in the tour was the Gispert Basic Cooperative Production Unit (UBPC), in Colon municipality, a producer of viands, grains, vegetables, dry corn and, more recently, coal for export.
In Perico municipality, Diaz-Canel highlighted the use of science and innovation to obtain new foods for livestock at the Indio Hatuey Experimental Station.
