Veracruz - Supported mainly in judo, Cuban representatives will try today to cut away distance with Mexicans, during the sixth day of the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games Veracruz-2014.

This Thursday the titles of the 44, 48 and 52 kg for women and 55 and 60 for males in judo will be discussed.

In the three female categories the major candidates for gold are the Cuban Dayaris Mestre, Maria Celia Laborde and Yanet Bermoy, for their status of world medalists and even Olympic the latter.

Cubans also have options in cycling, handball, shooting and archery.

During the fifth day the Cuban delegation added three gold medals to its haul, through gymnastics, women's epee and cycling.

On Wednesday, the most notorious was to Venezuela, by winning seven of the nine golds contested in swimming, and grab a podium in skating that seemed destined for Colombia.

Mexico continued its dominant step and exceeded 100 medals, 42 gold, 32 silver and 38 bronze, followed by Cuba (29-20-20) and Venezuela (24-24-31). Then is Colombia (22-29-28).
