Washington, Dec 24.- Sixto-four percent of U.S. citizens supports president Barack Obama´s decision to reestablish diplomatic relations with Cuba, showed a survey of daily The Washington Post and ABC network published today.

The survey shows that among the followers of the Democratic Party, support rises to 77 percent, compared to 49 percent in the case of Republicans.

On the other hand, 79 percent of the supporters of Obama and 57 percent of those of the red party agree with the decisión of the White House to eliminate the economic, comercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington on the island over half a century ago.

The elimination of the ban on U.S. citizens to travel to Cuba, is supported by 85 percent of Democrats and 64 percent of Republicans.

Obama announced last December 17 the start of a process to reestablish diplomatic relations with Cuba and use his Presidential executive faculties to increase trade and flexibilize travelling waivers of U.S. citizens to the island.

The President promised to work with Congreso next year to eliminate the most important obstacle to the improvement of bilateral links, that is, the blockade.
