Cuban VP Tours Main Industries in Central Province

Havana, Cuba - Salvador Valdés Mesa, vice president of the State Council, toured significant economic objectives in the province of Cienfuegos related to the industry, the sugar harvest and others, Granma newspaper reported.
In Granos de Aguada Agro-industrial company, he received details on the investment made in assembling a mill that processes five tons per hour and three silos that store a thousand tons each.
Valdés Mesa stressed at the meeting the importance of increasing grain production to reduce imports, as the country invests large sums of money in acquiring these in the international market .
After passing through Antonio Sanchez sugar mill, also in Aguada, he expressed the need of obtaining derivatives and the significance of raising the sugarcane yield based on the appropriate use of irrigation systems, with the aim of reaching 150 days of harvest in each sugar mill.
He also visited the Advanced Technology Enterprise of Construction where he stressed the importance of preparing the cadres to meet new regulations that give more independence to the entities; while he ratified the concept that to increase wages, production must be higher.
Accompanied by Lydia Esther Brunet Nodarse, first secretary of the Party in Cienfuegos, and Mairelys Pernia Cordero, president of the Government, Salvador Valdés Mesa also toured the Dionisio San Román Laboratory of Combustion, Pinos Altos non-agricultural c ooperative and El Mango farm.
