Maradona: Happy for Having Received a Letter from Fidel Castro

Havana - Former world soccer star Diego Armando Maradona said on Monday to be glad for having received a letter from Cuban leader Fidel Castro, and very happy for knowing that he is in good health condition”.

“I'm rather glad that he (Fidel Castro) has sent me a letter and very happy for knowing that he is in good health. Besides, I’m pretty satisfied with the two De Zurda shows we did in Havana, ” Maradona told reporters at the Jose Marti International Airport, before taking off from Cuba’s capital.

When asked about the content of the letter, Maradona was brief when said “he congratulates me, of course” and immediately thereafter he bid farewell, sending regards to all Cubans. “I love you so much”, he added.

For his part, Uruguayan journalist Víctor Hugo Morales, host of Telesur sports show "De Zurda" together with Maradona, expressed to be "very pleased for their stay in Cuba.

“We are leaving this nation deeply thankful. Professionally speaking, it has been very positive and we have had a great time with Diego. We are rather satisfied with the two shows and the people have received them with a great pleasure”, stressed Morales. Then, he announced that De Zurda will continue in Venezuela by the end of February. Afterwards we will move to Jamaica, Uruguay and finally we will broadcast from Chile, the host of 2015 Copa America (June 11 – July 4).
