
San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba.- The Coronary Room at General Teaching Hospital "Ivan Portuondo" of the municipality ended January with 53 cases of admission, each with a first class service and fulfillment of its mission, raise the life quality of their patients, not only San Antonio de los Baños but other localities near the territory.
With a team of 29 nurses, 11 doctors, a noninvasive test technician and 4 employees, the health area is open since 2003.
The Coronary Care Unit is actually an Intensive care unit, where patients with severe heart problems are entered, or can have serious consequences if complicated. Such processes are, for example, angina pectoris, acute myocardial infarction, certain severe cardiac arrhythmias, congestive heart failure unresponsive to medication.
Doctors: different specialties often assume these units: the intensivists, who are specialists in intensive care, and cardiologists, that are cardiology specialists.
As nursing: it is highly qualified professionals trained to detect problems that may be looming in very early stage, and to act in coordination with the medical team in resolution. Furthermore oversee monitoring, maintenance of venous pathways, administering medication and generally own their professional duties.
At present three specialists of the unit are in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
