Trends, Problems of Cuban Literature under Discussion at Book Fair

Havana - A panel on trends and problems of the contemporary Cuban literature promises today controversy and debate at the 24th International Book Fair Habana-2015.
The objective is to join in a single stage Cuban literary heavyweights, such as Guillermo Rodriquez Rivera and Leonardo Padura, whose criteria are always news.
The meeting will be held at the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists, while the Ibero-American event of young writers will continue at the Dulce Maria Loynaz Center.
Sales and book launchings are expected today across the Havana Bay, at the Cabaña Fortress, main venue of the Fair, in a day dedicated to the universe of education.
Among the most inspiring books are "Reto a la Soledad" (Challenge to Solitude), an impressive testimony by Colonel Orlando Cardoso Villavicencio, who remained for nearly 11 years imprisoned and isolated in Lanta Buur, Somalia.
The "Calendario" award, to recognize the work of young artists, will be delivered this afternoon.
In turn, a colloquium on the legacy of Miguel de Cervantes, on occasion of the 400 years of the publication of Quixote, an important work of the Spanish literature, will take place at the University of Havana.
The Fair was dedicated yesterday to Kitchen and Food Culture, with book launchings and debates involving chefs, gourmets and communicators.
Maybe, the most important thing was the delivery of the Dora Alonso Humility Distinction to the Cuban Five, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Gerardo Hernandez.
The exhibition "Absueltos por la libertad" (Acquitted for Freedom), with 16 watercolors by Guerrero, symbolizing the years they spent imprisoned in the United States, despite the world rejection, was displayed in the activity.
