The province of Artemisa trying to recover its Egg Production

Artemisa, Cuba - Artemisa ended January and February with a deficit of two million 800 000 eggs, which affected the sales , although it fulfilled its commitments for the ration book, agencies and Havana City , according to Luis Carlos Perez, director of the Poultry Company in the province .

Pérez said that low productive levels are due to the stress caused by climatic hazards such as high winds, low temperatures and cloudy days , as well as difficulties with the quality of food.

Delays in the movement of mass, mainly laying hens towards adaptation stage , and health problems in several units, have had a negative impact on these results, Perez added.

Weather conditions’ improvement, compliance with the technological flow and proper handling of poultry units has allowed the gradual recovery of production; hence its directors expects a monthly overfulfillment from March on.

Artemisa has a plan of 247 million 200 000 eggs for the current year, superior in three million 400000 units to 2014 production. The province expects to have a new space with capacity for 11,000 laying hens in Tomás Orlando Díaz Basic Unit Enterprise(UEB) , which should start its contribution in May.
