National Chamber Music Festival Begins in Cuba

Villa Clara, Cuba - The 19th edition of the National Chamber Music Festival "A Tempo with Caturla" begins today in Cuba with the participation of two solid international figures, Leo Brouwer and Frank Fernandez.
The event, to be run until March 8 in this central province, will be dedicated to these two Cuban music figures.
The president of the event's organizing committee, Maykel Iglesias, stated that the presence of Brouwer and Fernandez here is a privilege and a honor.
According to the event's program, the documentary entitled "Festival Leo Brouwer, sus raices" (Leo Brouwer festival, his roots) and a homage by several artists to the renowned composer on occasion of his 60 years of musical creation, will take place on March 6.
The virtuoso guitarist will participate at a talk at the Jose Marti Provincial Library on March 7, on "Las voces humanas" Festival, to be held in the Cuban capital from September 25 to October 8, 2015.
Fernandez, considered the father of the Cuban piano school, will offer concerts at the Ruben Martinez Villena Theater, tomorrow, March 5, and at La Caridad Theater, on March 8.
Among guests to the festival are also Soprano Barbara Llanes, violinist Anolan Gonzalez, and musicologist Miriam Escudero, director of the Esteban Salas Musical Heritage, of the Havana Historian's Office.
The present edition of this event will celebrate the 75th death anniversary of Cuban composer Alejandro Garcia Caturla and the 500th anniversary of the founding of the city of San Juan de los Remedios, among other relevant dates.
