Vocational guidance according to municipal needs

San Antonio de los Baños needs to stimulate the incorporation of students to careers in Education, Agronomy and training of qualified workers among other specialties by the deficit of workforce in the town. Teacher training and youth agricultural work force to ensure the performance of main activities of the social and economic life of the country. We talked with Giselle Valiente, Second Chief of Basic Media Education in the Municipal Education Department.
When did you start as career guidance?
The education concept from the comprehensive and progressive point of view values the vocational training within the educational process that starts from the early grades, using all the possibilities offered to convey to students love for the profession they want. Since the early ages become familiar with trades and professions in joint activities designed in the Educate Your Child program involving the family, then incorporating the Circles of Interest within school hours, especially in the evenings, and related actions with the community.
What actions facilitate vocational guidance?
While external factors are known, it is an undeniable fact the decreased work of motivation and professional information. The challenge is to stimulate the introduction to careers in higher education that respond to the needs of the municipality, so the work has to be coordinated with Trainers and Receivers Organizations, emphasizing the motivation for the less requested and of considerable importance for the territory's economy. Therefore are made agreements to develop the work in this regard.
What do you mean?
Of course, we talk about labor agreements established by the Municipal Board of Education with companies and institutions that allow the exchange in schools and in workplaces, specialists, technicians and students on issues of interests and concerns of young people for their future performance. Interesting Circles are an example, it grouped students, research, receive theoretical and practical classes, visit the centers and know the internals including the production process. Among the stand companies are Lázaro Peña tobacco enterprise, the Municipal Department of Sport and Health and Ariguanabo Textiles.
Pedagogy and Agronomy are within the municipality needs for workforce. What are the projections?
We are aware that the problem is not resolved from one year to another and it involves multiple factors, the family is not always ally because it resists their children to be teachers or working in the related field activities. The strategy of consolidating are monitors per subject, integrating the teachers cloisters of each center. Also visit training schools where future teachers are and encourage the meeting with retirees to exchange experiences and learn from their concerns. For visiting interest places of great agronomic impact on the local economy, also participate in Forum and Youth and Technical Brigades where is given solution through research and workshops to problematic for efficiency production processes. Also open doors to university carrers with great acceptance by students.
How the Pioneers Palace is integrated?

What are the weaknesses in vocational guidance in the town?
Vocational guidance must continue improving, not easy to define a life project at 14 years old, is not easy to match personal interests with social priorities, despite the use of circles of interest in primary education, work in school gardens as well as the subject of Labor Education in junior high school for teens learn to work with metals, wood, to make handicrafts contribute favorably.
