Cuban Leo Brouwer Nominated to Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame

Havana, Cuba - Cuban guitarist, orchestra director and composer Leo Brouwer, was nominated recently to be included in the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame (Lshof), founded in 2012 to honor and acknowledge the work of the most important musicians of the region.

Along with other legends of this part of the world, the author of Un día de noviembre appears on the list in the category of composers, accompanied, among other figures, by Brazilian Erasmo Carlos, Chilean Alberto Plaza and Colombian Hector Ochoa.

Votes, opened via the Internet through the page www.latinsonghall.com will end on the evening of March 15 and the names of artists selected for the last part of the contest will be announced in April.

Also aspiring to be included in the Hall of Fame on this occasion are acclaimed artists like Panamanian Ruben Blades, Mexican Juan Gabriel and Brazilians Roberto Carlos and Camilo Sesto, who accompany the nomination of Cuban Pablo Milanes, as informed by the U.S. magazine Billboard.

In addition to the aforementioned artists, singers Joan Sebastian, Diego Torres, Caetano Veloso, Ednita Nazario, Alvaro Torres, Myriam Hernandez and Franco de Vita are also nominated.

The gala to hand over these acknowledgements will take place on October 15 at the Fillmore Miami Beach of the Jackie Gleason Theater, in the United States.

Founded by the U.S. composers and producers Desmond Child and Rudy Perez, the Lshof has given prizes in past editions to figures such as Alejandro Sanz, Julio Iglesias, Rafael Perez Botija, Jose Feliciano, Armando Manzanero and Agustin Lara.

Also, to Argentinean Carlos Gardel, Antonio Carlos Jobim (Brazil), Violeta Parra (Chile) and Ernesto Lecuona (Cuba).
