Festival of the Arts in Cuba Diversifies Cultural Options

Havana - Concerts, performances, plays, dance performances and creative workshops will be included today in the opening day of the 6th Festival of the Arts in Cuba.
A magic-religious ritual of the Afro-Cuban culture called Ñangareo will open the event at the campus of the Faculty of Dance Arts.
Also at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) the workshop Con(m)unidad for children will be open and the folk dance group Guapara will perform.
The Theater Group of the University of Granada will perform the play Pier Paolo at the theater El Ciervo Encantado, in the Faculty of Visual Arts.
Argentinean professor Sebastian Rey will carry out an exhibition of the results of the Sound Experimentation Lab "Sonidocinico", and also the sound performance "Espera silenciosa" and the interactive exhibition Mascaras, created by a group of stage designers will take place.
Professor Vivian Martinez Tabares will give a lecture on the performance, definitions and variations in theater, dance and plastic arts.
The festival will run until next March 29 at various sites of Havana, as the Fabrica de Arte Cubano, the theaters Mella, Trianon and Hubert de Blanck, as well as the Parque Central, the cultural center Pabellon Cuba and the Plaza de Armas, amid other places.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
