Cuban Guerrero wins Giraldilla tournament

Havana, Cuba - Cuban Osleni Guerrero won the title in the Giraldilla de La Habana International Badminton Tournament, which was held at the Sports City Coliseum.
Guerrero, top seed in the men's event, achieved the gold medal in a match that was easier than expected against American Howard Shu, whom he defeated 2-0 (21-15 and 21-8) in just 35 minutes.
The Cuban player, 58th in the world ranking, showed great accuracy in his smashes, which in most cases left his opponent helpless.
I did not expect it to be as quiet match, but everything flowed pretty well and I always felt confident that I could win, even though Shu is a challenging opponent but apparently he was a little tired, Guerrero told reporters.
He said that in the coming days he will leave for a training base in Peru, where he will compete in an Open contest; and then shall participate in the International tournament, in Chile.
Through this win, Guerrero added two 2 500 points to his personal account on the list of the world.
In addition, he improved his performance of 2014, event in which he finished third.
In the women's final, Turkish Ebru Tunali defeated 2-0 (21-16 and 21-16) Laura Sarosi, from Hungary; while the mixed double event was won by Peruvian Marico Cuba and Katherine Winder.
Other winners were the Italians Giovanni Greco and Rosario Maddaloni in men's doubles, while the Turkish couple of Emre Fere and Tunali did the same in the women’s event.
