XIX International Biennial of Graphic Humor, Cuba 2015, a new space for understanding

The International Biennial of Graphic Humor, Cuba 2015, under the theme "War Games" will become a place for fraternity and understanding. The Circle of comedians and cartoonists of the Union of Cuba Journalists and the Humor Museum in San Antonio de los Baños, together with the Provincial Culture Department of Artemisa sponsor the nineteenth edition, to be held from April 5th to 8th 2015 .
The event is held every two years, cartoonists from around the world, the question of this edition moves the most suggestive answers.
Cartoonists from more than 30 countries from art raise their voices against war and this speech in their works advocates the defense of peace, from the reflective mood that tests the talent, skills, enables communication and reveals the role of culture in favor of life. The organizers of the Biennale stated that the coincidence of the event with the Seventh Summit of the Americas allows artists to declare Havana and San Antonio de los Baños as zones of peace, in order to make visible the greatest need in the world: the enjoyment peace and determination of every people to decide their future.
23 countries are in competition represented about 93 creators. All genres are invited at the meeting, and are facilitators of the views of the authors. The general humor, political satire, cartoon, personal caricature, humorous photograph are expression of diverse viewpoints. Remain the most recurrent themes addressed by the creators, peace, non-violence, innocence of childhood in the midst of war and defense nature.
The Hall of the Biennial revealed through participating works the development of humor and commitment of the artist in the XXI century, universal themes treated contemporaneity of a world that is torn between war and sustainability of peace. The message that humanity can never be indifferent to the constant flood of murder, mutilation of entire populations, where dreams and hopes are buried and destroyed the cultural heritage that supports the development until today.
There are many reasons for the feast of Humor in San Antonio de los Baños. The XIX International Biennial of Graphic Humor Cuba 2015, engaging to the Five, now at home, also celebrate the anniversaries 30th and 35th, respectively, publishing Pablo de la Torriente Brau from UPEC and April, of the Youth Communist Union.
In the Humor Villa will be sessional conferences, workshops, collateral exhibitions in cultural institutions, will return to Cine Teatro Circle of Artisans and Taberna del Tío Cabrera, comedians who will offer their talents to the public throughout the week and musical groups.
The XIX International Biennial of Graphic Humor, Cuba 2015 is about to begin and between expectations awaiting the award and implementation of activities under the program that includes the audience who may vote to define the Popularity Award.
This edition will be dedicated to the cartoon as a genre. The Biennial awards the Grand Prix Eduardo Abela and awards in each of the categories in competition. Another award that organizes this event is the online "Tomy" Award (in memory of loved caricaturist Tomas Rodriguez Zayas who devoted a major part of his work for the return of the Cubans five unjustly imprisoned in the United States for fighting terrorism).

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
