Actions for sustainable agriculture in Artemisa

Artemisa, Cuba.- Actions for sustainable agriculture are developed in the municipality San Antonio de los Baños,due to the importance of this sector for food production.
The Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians with its presidency at Ariguanabo, promotes some measures and lines of work aimed at preserving the environment while soils for agricultural production are used.
Among its objectives is the support to government programs in agricultural and forestry production and the optimization of crops and products. It also maintains relations with international partners and evaluates development systems applicable to our production methods.
To keep these tasks is based on the importance of promoting agroecology, for a favorable soil use, is avoided the use of fertilizers and chemicals and make good practices to enhance water management.
ACTAF is linked with the Movement of Urban and Suburban Agriculture, because in many organic farms, family courts and fruit farms, for example, organic agriculture is employed by fertilizers from nature, such as vermicompost.
All this helps to maintain the environment qualities, which producers are feed, so ensure its use in good sustained condition.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
