Cuban workers play a major role in its efforts to ensure economic progress of the revolution, socialism and have a leading role in the defense of the main achievements of the country.

They are different, in my opinion, the battles that we fight every day who works in Cuba. Our nation lives today changes in the economic, social and political, develop an electoral process that will be the basis of a new representation of Cubans in the Municipal Assembly of People's Power. We also develop new forms of economic management, new ways to further boost the self-employment that has given so much fruit to the economy.

I believe that this May 1st, when we celebrate another international workers day, Cubans should be proud of our performance in valuable areas such as medicine, food production, tobacco crops, the construction or the different engineering branches. All, without exception, pay taxes to the maintenance of revolutionary work, then move along to the country where we were born in the near future to see significant accomplishments.

This year there is every reason to strengthen ties between the different sectors, to even surpass savings plans, processes import substitution and investors.

I also consider a victory the presence in this May 1st the 5 Cuban heroes for the first time in many years. It will be another opportunity to confirm the commitment of workers with other peoples of Latin America and the world, as fighters as our men and women united in a land of Socialism, strengths, values and battles.
