Cuban Medical Brigade in Nepal

Havana - The 41st brigade of the Henry Reeve Humanitarian Aid Contingent, specialized in disaster situations and serious epidemics –made up by 49 health-care professionals, of them 25 doctors in different medical and surgery specialties- arrived on Tuesday in Katmandu, Nepal.

The group of health-care practitioners, who will provide medical aid following the earthquake that devastated this country on April 25th, departed from Havana at noon on Monday; and according to sources at the Public Health Ministry of Cuba they all are well.

The Cuban medicals are now holding positions on site and setting up conditions to deploy a field hospital which will include a sterilization service, a surgical unit, an ICU, and it will be equipped with X-ray and ultrasound systems. An area for consultations and rehabilitation will also be opened.
