Havana - The 11th Congress of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) began sessioning today and one of its main objective is to debate the challenges of the organization to use more of its productive potentialities.

The event will be run until Sunday, May 17, at the Havana's Convention Center, with the participation of 700 delegates and 150 guests, representing all ANAP structures in the country.

Nearly 400,000 farmers and cooperatives belonging to ANAP, one of the main productive forces of the country, will focuse discussions on the use of productive agricultural reserves, the president of the organization, Rafael Santiesteban, said.

The ANAP leader recently stressed that the number of youth the organization has increased in 36 percent and 40 in women.

He recognized that even when the expected results in livestock and many agricultural productions are not achieved, the ANAP increased the production of root vegetables and vegetables compared with the previous stage, as well as in other areas.

Among ANAP's purposes is also to increase application of science and technique progress to raise production and yields in the countryside.
