
Havana - The legacy of Jamaican musician Bob Marley will be the main subject of the 5th International Colloquium "The Cultural Diversity in the Caribbean" at the Casa de las Americas institution.
The seminary "Bob Marley: Time will Tell", will also take place, along with panels, exhibitions, workshops, theater plays, books, audiovisuals, concerts and performances until next Friday.
The tribute to Marley, the King of Reggae, will begin next Wednesday 20 and will have the presence of researchers Horace Campbell, Michael Alleyne, Yanique Hume, Sonjah Stanley, Carolyn Cooper and Patricia Chin.
The Jamaican-Canadian artist Everton Pablo Paul and the group La Academia directed by Cuban musician Ruy Lopez-Nussa will perform the concert Bob Marley, from the CD Remembrance.
An exhibition with 32 posters in tribute to Marley was organized by Jamaican Michael Thompson, promoter of the International Reggae Poster Contest, supported by VP Records, the record company leading this music style.
The colloquium, organized by Casa de las Americas, will focus on Africa and the Caribbean, on occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (May 21).
The opening ceremony included an exhibition of works by Cuban famous contemporary artists, such as Manuel Mendive, Santiago Rodriguez Olazabal and Roberto Diago.
The event will also be attended by artists from various countries, like Jean-Noel Simet and his group Salzouka, from Guadeloupe, and members of the Foundation Benkos Bioho, from Colombia.
