Looking for more natural foods

Agroecology is a major factor in Cuba for many organizations and their partners. A global strategies and changes are also developed to promote sustainable agriculture with agro-ecological bases. This involves challenges to traditional practices in food production, although it is not new.

For many years our country advocates the use of fertilizers, pesticides and other essential elements for cultivation that are free of chemical materials.

I consider it´s a success for Cuba in the progress achieved in this regard by the movement of urban and suburban agriculture, which encourages the production of food, and all kinds of planting based on vermicompost, animal waste and all organic material, which avoids damaging agents permanence for the soil and the environment generally. Extend these positive practices that are carried out on farms, agro-ecological plots, family courts, nurseries and intensive orchards, in my opinion should be a priority for the rest of the producers, especially those associated with cooperatives. They still use chemicals in general. However, we must emphasize other ariguanabense as Fidel Muñoz or German Brothers who devote their efforts to protect their health and the environment avoiding the presence of toxins in the food  they produce and consume.

Closely related to this issue the Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians (ACTAF), whose foundations are based on increasing the number of members corresponding to agroecology it appears. Indeed, training sessions for farmers interested in applying this approach to reduce the damage to land and nourish their crops naturally offered. In my opinion keep vegetables from chemical-free consumption enables more benign and cooler; something that favors everyone.
