Cuba Hosts Int''l Colloquium Danzon Habana

Havana - The best tradition of the popular Cuban music is holding a party during the International Colloquium on Danzon, taking place today in this capital.
According to the Colloquium's president, Alicia Valdes, among the issues are: Revival of Miguel Failde or Matanzas' mockingbird. Exclusive of a catalog, and Raimundo Valenzuela in the Havana musical context of the 19th century's second half.
Also on the list are: Influence and performance of U.S. music in danzon, and Economic and social aspects that influenced in the change of musical taste of the Colombian city of Riohacha in late 20th century.
That relationship joins, among other issues, Danzon at concert's halls, Approach to bolero in the sound context of danzon, Danzon-bolero relationships. Coincidences?
The academic session of the Ninth International Festival "Danzon Habana," running until tomorrow at the Spanish-American Cultural Center, also predicts to expand knowledge, renew conceptions, Valdes stated.
The danzon, emerged in 1879 in the Cuban province of Matanzas, was declared in 2013 Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
