US Friends of Cuba''s Demand End of Blockade
Artemisa - Members of the US 46th Venceremos Brigade, on a visit to Cuba, demanded yesterday the end of the economic, commercial, financial blockade imposed on Cuba.
It is time to put an end to the blockade; we need to end that policy which does not favor the Cuban people, Ana Miledys Rosales told Prensa Latina at the end of the official welcoming ceremony of the contingent at the Julio ntonio Mella international camp, in Caimito, in Artemisa province, west of Havana.
Other members of the brigade, like Stephanie Nunez and Malcolm Sack, agreed with Rosales that this rapprochement between Havana and Washington will have more sense when this White House' stand is removed.
They urged to be on alert, as Washington will not give up its purposes to dominate the Island.
Here I have seen a united people with achieved gains like free education and health care, besides no neglected people by the system, and this is my dream as social worker, said Rosales.
She added that in the United States there is a serious situation regarding racial discrimination; for example, white people have the privilege of counting on health insurance with more coverage, which is denied to black people.
In Cuba, when someone goes to a hospital no one asks him/her for a health insurance, and this is great, said Rosales, of Dominican origin.
The 46th contingent of the Venceremos Brigade arrived to Cuba yesterday and will stay at the said Camp until August 1st.
Their agenda include voluntary work in the fields, visits to places of historical and social interest and exchanges in communities.
