Polo Montañez Group To Take its Music to Europe

Havana - The Polo Montañez group announced plans to tour Europe to promote its latest production Regreso (Return), recorded by a Swiss label.
"As part of our projects, we want to take the phonogram to the world from tours of France and Switzerland," announced the director of the group Amaury Romero to the cultural website Suena Cubano.
Romero said the musicians are very pleased that the album, produced by maestro Emilio Vega, was a very well planned work.
He also announced that the new album, with songs like Sombra Loca and Sendero Triste, written by Fernando Borrego (Polo Montañez), will be presented in Havana between August 10th and 20th.
Montañez, one of the most internationally listened Cuban singers, was the victim of a car accident that caused his death on November 26, 2002.
During his career he visited Colombia, France, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Mexico, Ecuador and Costa Rica.
He also shared with artists like Ruben Blades, Andy Montañez, Margarita Rosa de Francisco, Cesaria Evora, Candido Fabre, Francisco Repilado (Compay Segundo), Eliades Ochoa, Adalberto Alvarez, Danny Rivera and others.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
