The ariguanabense woman present in farming

The inclusion of women in the development process of the country is one of the larger social phenomena that occurred during these years of Cuban Revolution. Women are real stars of the transformations taking place in our nation's economic and social political order.

Since the establishment on August 23rd, 1960, women are in the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) organization to battle for the full exercise of women's equality, through its incorporation in production, education, culture , defense and other activities; to achieve away the vestiges of discrimination that they occupy, by their virtues and merits, the place where belongs.

In San Antonio de los Baños females are represented in agriculture, they add to the productive ways, and assume the vital task of food production, some directly into the furrow other as engineers, technicians, researchers, leaders such is the president of the Association of Small Farmers in the municipality as she led the CCS "Vicente Perez Noa" and for her results today represents the cooperative movement in the territory.

The participation of women in agriculture in all manifestations in contributing to food security and income generation through the production of various grains, vegetables, legumes, also in raising animals and also in marketing, sharing responsibilities with man.

Significant is the contribution of rural women in the FMC-ANAP Brigades; through these agreements workshops on topics of interest and discussions of health and the incorporation of these as health brigades and social workers are promoted within the guild.

The historical process shows that the tasks carried out by women, are undertaken with great responsibility in the case of agriculture, especially food production, protection and food sustainability. Therefore the protection or increasing access and control of women over land and other productive resources are policies for the empowerment and the fight for gender equality in Cuba.
