Peña del Rio recognizes the Olympian
Traditional Peña del Rio, held every third Sunday of each month at Ariguanabo, is hosted by Yawar group, recognized yesterday the outstanding ariguanabense athlete Orlando Rodriguez Diaz, Olympic medalist in the Special Olympics World Games, held in Los Angeles, United States.
Together with his family and members of the sports rock Terry Fox, Orlandito received the Victory Medal, awarded by the Ariguanabo walkers and sporting glories of our territory, including Reynaldo Castro Palomino and Lázaro Gonzalez, founding of Physical Education in San Antonio de los Baños.
In a pleasant dialogue with the audience the recreation center "El Siboney", known as Arrocera, Orlandito recounted his experiences in the Olympics and dedicated his medals to coaches, friends, neighbors and relatives, who always relied on him for this performance.
He also said is preparing for the Ibero-American event in Costa Rica next November, where he will compete in the same distances as in the Olympics, one hundred, two hundred and short track.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
