New Lifting Bridge in Guanajay

Artemisa, Cuba - The company that has worked for three months to build the lifting bridge over the railway line between Guanajay and the capital city of Artemisa, is putting the finishing touches on the important work that will promote greater safety in railway traffic at high speed through the double track linking the container terminal at Mariel's Special Development Zone with Havana City.

This is the second bridge built in that stretch through the technology of reinforced earth with supporting concrete panels, galvanized steel netting and other materials, a resistant tested method all over the world.

The bridge is 550 meters long and will have sidewalks, metal railings and defense barriers on both sides, to protect the tumulus paying tribute to one of Moncada fighters from Artemisa.

At the same time I was writing this information, workers were finishing sidewalks and the paving of the two routes of the Central Highway and signaling, among other details. Pedro Manuel Gonzalez Marin, chief of building work , said that quality distinguishes the work where several brigades are involved, two of them work during 24 hours, hence the dedication of the 220 builders to finish it in a short time, Gonzalez said.
