Pope Francis Begins in Cuba his Tenth Trip Abroad

Havana - Since his election as Pope on March 13, 2013, Pope Francis begins in Cuba his tenth trip abroad, which also includes the United States.

From July 22 to 29, 2012, Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina, the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church, participated in the 28th World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Almost a year later, from May 24 to 26, 2014, Pope Francis went to the Holy Land, a trip that included Jordan, Bethlehem (West Bank) and Jerusalem.

South Korea was the third trip of Pope Francis, from August 13 to 18, 2014, this was the first visit of a Pope to Asia in 15 years.

In his fourth trip, on September 21st, 2014, Pope Francis went to Albania, the first European country he visited in his pontificate, chosen for being one of the poorest and most forgotten nations in that region of the world.

On November 25, 2014, Pope Francis went to Strasbourg, France, to address the European Parliament and the Council of Europe.

From November 28 to 30, 2014, Pope Francis went to Ankara and Istanbul, in Turkey, and from January 12 to 19, 2015, during his seventh trip abroad he visited again Asia, specifically Sri Lanka and the Philippines.

For his eighth trip he chose Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he went on June 6, 2015.

From July 5 to 12, Pope Francis toured Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio will be in Cuba from today until September 22, on this date he will travel to Washington, United States.
