Donating blood saves lives

Artemisa, Cuba - The Blood Bank of San Antonio de los Baños is territorial and it supplies Ivan Portuondo Hospital and medical centers in Artemisa and Guanajay.
The local plan is 100 donations monthly, in 2015, in the town 1115 donations have been obtained for a 101.3% .
Most of these actions are from the territory workplaces and not from the Revolution Defense Committees (RDC ), an organization that always took the lead in this work.
I believe that a persuasive work to attract communities donors should be done, change the mentality and think of the three people who would benefit from your blood.
Cuba has 46 152 blood banks and transfusion services. 60% of blood recovered is used in the surgical activity, 10% in medical emergencies, treatment of hereditary and malignant diseases, and 5% in surgical preparation and other diseases.
Be participants in this process can help many people. An act of good will that saves lives. We have a duty, to do everything possible to achieve this, but it depends on everyone. Cuba is a united people; solidarity rewards.
More than six millions of Cubans from 18 to 65 years of age are able to donate. It should be remembered that blood can not be manufactured, so you get it only through donations. Cancer treatments, complex surgeries, accidents and organ transplants would be impossible without blood donations.
Specialists from around the world agree that a unit of donated blood, could benefit three potential patients that need that therapeutic resource. That is why each country should have a system of donations able to meet its needs.
For this purpose it is sufficient that every person has come twice a year to donate blood to ensure needy patients . According to a survey made by the United Nations, it was found that in our country 100% of the donations are voluntary.
