Cuban Heroes to Visit Bolivia as Guests of President Morales

La Paz - The Five Cuban anti-terrorists that were jailed in US prisons will visit Bolivia next week, invited by President Evo Morales and his Government, Ambassador of the island to La Paz Benigno Perez reported today.
According to the diplomat, the Five, as heroes of the Republic of Cuba Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez are known, will be accompanied by another Cuban man that was decorated with the same order, Colonel Orlando Cardoso.
The group will arrive in La Paz in the early morning on October 5, coming from Ecuador, and will participate in several activities in this capital, before traveling to the eastern city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
From that territory, accorkding to the diplomat, the Cuban men will go to the locality of Vallegrande on October 8, to pay homage to the Argentinean-Cuiban guerrilla man Ernesto Che Guevera, 48 years after his assassination in La Higuera, a place they will visit the day after.
The Five were arrested in September, 1998 in Miami, where they infiltrated terrorist groups that were operating against Cuba, and after a biased trial, they were punished with long sentences in US prisons.
Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez returned to Cuba after serving their sentences, and Labañino and Guerrero were released in December, after an agreement between the Governments of the United States and Cuba.
Cardoso, was accomplishing an internationalist mission in Ethiopia, during the Somali invasion, when he was wounded in combat and taken prisoner, to be transferred later to enemy territory, where he remained captive for 10 years and seven months.
The subhuman conditions of the place where he was kept prisoner and the solitude of his imprisonment caused him irreversible physical damage
The group of Cuban heroes will leave Bolivia on October 10, after fulfilling their objective of thanking Morales, his Government and his people for the campaign of solidarity for their release, according to the Cuban ambassador.
