First house of grandparents in Cuba

Artemisa, Cuba - On August 14, 1971 the Cuban government started with the creation of the Homes of Grandparents in the country with the foundation of the first Home in the municipality of San Antonio de los Baños in the province of Artemisa.
On the occasion of the celebration of this October 1srt the Day of the Older Persons, the most longevous center for the attention and care of elderly persons, has the first Cognitive Group Therapy in the province to detect memory disorders.
The primate house of grandparents in the country has treated nearly of 400 old people, who receive the services of breakfast, lunch and dinner and also are benefiting with medical care in Geriatrics and Podiatry.
Tomasa Díaz who is 93 years old is the oldest person in this institution, of which, in her own words, has no complaints due to the dedication of its group of workers to provide a quality care.
