Cuban pitcher Wilber Perez wins 100th game in Serie Nacional

Havana, Cuba - The lefty Wilber Pérez achieved last Sunday his 100th victory in Cuban National Baseball Series, in the triumph of Isla de la Juventud 2-1 over Cienfuegos.
Perez reached his fifth win of the season when allowing six hits and one earned run in eight innings, while the also lefty Norberto Gonzalez took the loss.
Immersed in his fifteenth season with the Islanders, now the veteran pitcher holds historical balance of 100 wins and 95 losses, while balance of 5-1 in this championship with excellent ERA of 1 .87.
With the positive outcome of this Sunday, Isla de la Juventud completed the sweep over Cienfuegos to climb to seventh seat in the standings, while the leader Ciego de Avila and Holguin also managed to sweep their rivals.
The Ciego de Avila Tigers swept Mayabeque by winning on Sunday 2-0, with excellent pitching performance by Dennis Castillo, who allowed only four hits in seven innings and two thirds.
Holguin beat 14-10 Sancti Spiritus, adding thus its fifth straight victory, supported by an attack of 15 hits, with prominence to catcher Franklin Aballe, 3 for 4 with seven RBIs, while Luis Daniel Serrano hit two homers for the defeated squad.
In Sunday’s other results, Guantanamo beat 6-3 Artemisa, Industriales defeated 5-4 Granma , Matanzas won 7-4 over Villa Clara and Santiago de Cuba did the same 4-2 over Camagüey, while the match Pinar del Rio -Las Tunas was suspended.
Ciego de Avila tops the standings with 24 wins and 9 losses, escorted by Pinar del Río (20-10), Industriales (21-12), Las Tunas (19-11), Granma (20-12), Holguin and Isla de la Juventud (18-15), Matanzas (17-15), Cienfuegos (15-15), Guantanamo (16-16), Sancti Spiritus and Villa Clara (16-17), Santiago de Cuba (13-20), Artemisa (9-21), Camagüey (9-24) and Mayabeque (5-27).
