Cuban Heroes Repudiate Maneuver vs. Pan Arab Channel Al-Mayadeen

Beirut - The five Cubans who were held in U.S. prisons for fighting terrorism expressed solidarity with the pan-Arab TV channel Al-Mayadeen against maneuvers and political pressures destined to silence it, the station reported.

"We want to send it a big hug and our support for the attack with which reactionary forces seek to silence our voice," said a letter from the Cuban fighters against terrorism to the channel, whose programming has dedicated large spaces for years to the dissemination of its cause.

Signed by Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez, declared Heroes of the Republic of Cuba, the letter, to which Prensa Latina had the exclusive report, stressed that Al-Mayadeen "represents the legitimate aspirations and interests of the Arab peoples."

The solidarity message with the television channel refers to the decision by the Arabsat Company to suspend it the satellite communications services and the pressures of that company and the government of Saudi Arabia, so authorities from Lebanon, where the TV channel is located, prohibit it broadcasting.

In this regard, the five Cubans expressed their categorical opposition to attack those that were defined as "voices raised to defend the integrity of the Arab peoples and their sovereignty," referring to the affinity of such channel with the noble causes of this region, particularly Palestine.

We trust you, which have always been guided by principles to deliver us an ethical, selfless and courageous journalism. We trust those who always showed to us a solidarity and fraternal spirit, said the five Cubans who complied with long prison terms in the United States.
